Rebecca Murphy

Rebecca graduated from KIAD, Canterbury in 1992 with a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art – Painting.

Much of her work references the lost and disappearing vernacular architecture of her childhood and currently the disappearing industrial buildings in the Kent landscape, where she lives.

A paradoxical fear and fascination with these structures is a recurring theme in her work. Rebecca has also illustrated two children’s books, carried out various illustration commissions and started studying for an MA in Illustration during lockdown. In 1995 she gained a PGCE and continues to teach primary aged pupils. She also continues to attend life drawing sessions locally.

SEAS is a self-funding and voluntary organisation which promotes, supports and provides a network for our vibrant artistic community in Deal and surrounding areas. SEAS was established in 2004 by a few artists and now has a membership of nearly 100 people, ranging from longstanding professional artists to those who are making a start in the arts.

For nearly 20 years SEAS has organised a dynamic, stimulating and diverse Open Studios/Art Trail event featuring new work by professional and amateur artists in conjunction with other creative events such as the
