I have never had any formal art training, indeed at school I was very discouraged from any art classes and felt the drawing just ‘wasn’t my thing’.

Since moving to Deal over 5 years ago and retiring from work I have done a number of courses in painting with a variety of mediums but really like the effects of watercolour. I still have a very long way to go but thoroughly enjoy experimenting and learning new techniques.

SEAS is a self-funding and voluntary organisation which promotes, supports and provides a network for our vibrant artistic community in Deal and surrounding areas. SEAS was established in 2004 by a few artists and now has a membership of nearly 100 people, ranging from longstanding professional artists to those who are making a start in the arts.

For nearly 20 years SEAS has organised a dynamic, stimulating and diverse Open Studios/Art Trail event featuring new work by professional and amateur artists in conjunction with other creative events such as the
Deal Festival of Music and Arts https://dealmusicandarts.com and the National Gardens Scheme https://ngs.org.uk
