The Winter Group Show at Linden Hall Studio is one of the most popular exhibitions in the calendar year, featuring a variety of established artists and emerging talent.
South East Artists are excited to be involved within the show this year with various SEAs artists submissions being selected. The exhibition opens from 2/12/2023 until 27/1/2024.
We hope you will find the time to visit the wonderful gallery that has helped to encourage local art and the Winter Group Show is culmination of another great year for SEAs which has included eight events during 2023.

Mike Tedder was a graduate of Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. He lived in Dover for some years. He had a passion for mixed-media collage, photography and design. His work was inspired by dreams, emotions, language, memory, songs, or a particular moment. Exploring a juxtaposition of reality, fantasy, aesthetics and sensation, he sought to examine the transient moments of real life experiences within both shared and autobiographical contexts. He was published and has exhibited in solo/group events across the UK, Europe & North America.
A SEAS member for many years, Mike produced our Art Trail catalogue for SEAS Open Studios each year and managed our website and promoted the work of SEAS members. His collages, prints and photography featured in many SEAS shows.
Mike Tedder died in April 2022. His sister donated much of his work to SEAS. This will be exhibited at St George’s Parish Hall in Deal on 23rd September and pieces can be bought for very accessible prices. Any profits go to SEAS and a donation will be made to the Trussell Trust.
South East Artists (SEAS) are excited to be exhibiting their first show at Deal Castle. A wonderful venue and atmospheric castle, situated on the seafront overlooking the English Channel. Artist’s work ranges from local scenes, historic images and abstract forms of the East Kent coast and surrounding areas. You will see, printmaking, mixed media, textiles, 3D work, sculpture from recycled materials, photography, mosaic, watercolour, acrylic and oil paintings. The event runs during the weekend of the Deal Music & Arts Festival and will be a great opportunity to visit Deal on a weekend when there will be much to see. This ticket will also allow re-admission to the show for its duration and access to Deal Castle as a visitor. No smoking on the premises. No dogs allowed, but assistance dogs welcome. This has become the regular launch event for Open Studios. Come and meet the artists at St George’s Parish Hall in the High Street Deal. It’s a great opportunity to chat to the artists, learn where they will be exhibiting on the Open Studio Trail, and pick-up the OS catalogue. As previous years all the artwork is original and sells for £25. Entry is free and there is plenty of parking within the town and seafront.

Forty-seven artists show work in a variety of venues from small studios to large halls, over two weekends in June. Across eight miles of Kent coast, in Deal, Walmer, St Margaret’s Bay and inland at Northbourne. As always, there is a fascinating range of work, both two-and three-dimensional.
Now in its nineteenth year, the Art Trail is a exciting event in East Kent’s summer calendar. A new, additional event this summer is Art at the Castle on 8th and 9th July, at historic Deal Castle.
SEAS members exhibit in smaller groups in Margate’s Pie Factory, at Ringwould and as part of East Kent Open Houses.
Members have shown at Turner Contemporary and many other galleries, including the Royal Academy. Membership has grown significantly in recent years and now stands at 80.
To preview the Open Studios Art Trail, come to our Small is Beautiful show at St George’s Hall in Deal, on Saturday 3rd June 10-4pm. The main Art Trail events take place on the last two weekends in June, 17th & 18th and 24th & 25th 10-5pm.
