Amanda Thompson

Professional artist working primarily in oil on canvas, watercolour and with cameraless photography. My practice is concerned with tracing the memory of walking through a variety of different landscapes. More recently I have begun to experiment with capturing small elements of Kent flora and fauna in enamel on copper.

I currently have work in the Artist Support Pledge Exhibition, A GENEROUS SPACE,  selected by Mathew Burrows for @art_on_sea  at Hastings Contemporary. I also have work selected for the Linden Hall Studio, Deal, Winter Exhibition 2021-22 which has now sold.

“These contemporary still life paintings are primarily concerned with the relationship between form, colour and space. The positioning of the objects, their proximity or distance. creates a balance or imbalance within the pictorial space which I enjoy exploring through constructs of repetition and difference. I frequently use  my own enamel bowls, dishes and jugs to include in the painting. I am interested in the domestic and the everyday setting of a table.”
