Dominic Harper has found a place on Deal Pier on 26th December for the last nine years, ready to photograph the annual rush to the sea, as organised by the Deal Rotary Pirates. An increasingly popular activity, with qualities of renewal, escape and ritual immersion, ‘a bath of multitude’.
The transient event is recorded by Dominic through hundreds of photographs, then constructed as a composite image for each year. Dominic’s first solo show includes every year from 2015 (x2020), together with paintings of landscapes and figures.
