Sheila Vyse

My name is Sheila Vyse. Originally from London, I moved to Deal in 1982 with my husband to raise our family by the sea.
My passion for Art began at an early age, drawing little figures on the wallpaper in my bedroom! I went on to gain a degree specialising in graphic art and design and began teaching in the East End of London.
Moving to Deal inspired me to paint the local beach scenes and historic houses. I exhibited collections of these at the Joem Gallery and Deal Library and worked as a freelance artist before returning to Primary School teaching in 1994. Throughout my long and rewarding teaching career creativity has always been at the heart of my work for inspiration, engagement, and wellbeing.
Having recently retired, I am now concentrating on my first love as an artist and illustrator.
My artworks include paintings, book illustrations and greetings cards. I designed The Warden House Learning Model and Vision Wheel which is displayed on their website and minibuses.
I work in gouache paints and ink with a bold, simple picture book style to suit all ages.
