Formerly a writer, journalist and copywriter, I went on to train as an artist at London Fine Arts Studios. Initially concentrating on portraiture, I also now paint landscape and still life. I am interested in strong, ‘painterly’ brushwork and believe that nature, light and abstract shape can combine to create contemporary yet timeless work. Nicolai Fechin, Cezanne, Turner and Gustave Caillebotte are some of the artists I most admire. They all, in my opinion, combine the classical with the bold and the innovative.
