I was born in Scotland. My wife (then fiancee) and I moved to East Anglia in ’88, then Deal in ’94. We love Deal and have been here ever since. I have always had a love of art. As a scientist my academic career focused on chemistry and computer science so I’ve had no formal art training, but I’ve painted on and off in the past and in the last couple of years I’ve picked up the brush again.
I enjoy painting sea/landscape or still life in watercolour or acrylic and am looking forward to working with oil paints in the near future. I love the immersive focus of painting; it makes everything except materials and surface disappear. I draw inspiration from a broad spectrum of art and regularly attend local exhibitions, galleries, and Open Studios.
